Camping out

So these past few weeks have been pretty exciting. This whole semester has consisted of applications, personal interviews, phone interviews, and whatnot. I've been blessed to not be stressed beyond belief. In fact, it's been a pretty natural process, which I've been thankful for.

So as graduation has been quickly approaching, I've been asked "What's next?" multiple times. Instead of freaking out about it, I've been able to fully give that question over to God and tried to patiently wait for the answer. Well, I have answers now, which is super exciting!

This summer, I'll be a staff counselor out in Etna, California. You may be wondering, where is that? Well, it's in northern California, about an hour away from the Oregon border in the central part of the state. California is a brand new adventure for me as I've never been farther west than Texas. Not only is the new state a new adventure, but also what I'll be doing out there. I'm working at a camp called Mount Hermon. It's a Christian camp located in Santa Cruz, California, but they have another camp in Etna, which is Kidder Creek and where I'll be working.

I'll be working as a staff counselor out there. This means a lot of mentoring of the girl counselors. Besides that, I'll be doing whatever they need me to do which could consist teaching, dishes, whitewater rafting, ropes courses, horse stuff, and whatever else they need me to do. I'm excited to see what God has for me and looking forward to being outside of my comfort zone. It's definitely going to be a stretch as this was a position that I put down, but didn't really think I had a chance of getting it. Surprise! God had other plans and I can see now that He has been preparing me for this a lot over the past few years. So that's what I'll be doing this summer. I leave May 14th and will be there until the middle of August.

Then, shortly after I get back from California, I will be at a camp in Michigan, called Miracle Camp, doing a year-long internship. The internship will most likely focus on guest services and programming. The camp is located southwest of Kalamazoo. So about an hour away from where I am right now in Indiana, and about an hour or so away from home. My mom's pretty excited about that factor. I don't really have a ton more information as far more specifics on the camps, so that's about it.

I'm really excited about the opportunities that God has in store for me. I can already see that it's going to be a stretching time full of many learning experiences. Please pray as I get ready to embark on this adventure as well as finishing up the school career. It's getting more and more difficult to focus on school when I am so excited about what is to come. I would definitely appreciate your prayers as I prepare in all aspects of my life for what is to come. I'll try and keep you posted on what is going on and also as I go through this journey. I'm excited and hope that you will share with me in my excitement.
